We are holding open auditions soon for our autumn production of Jekyll and Hyde, which will be directed by Judith Hall and Megan Rogers. Auditions will take place on Sunday May 5th from 2.30pm – 4.30pm and Tuesday 7th May from 7.30pm at Blackfriars Theatre in Boston. It is quite a large cast so lots of roles are available, both male and female. All are welcome regardless of whether you are currently a member or not. Audition pieces are available to view and download from this link.
Roles available:
Dr Jekyll
Mr Hyde
Dr Hastie Lanyon, a fellow student from their medical school days, describes Jekyll’s theories as “balderdash”.
Richard Enfield is sceptical, but he is the man about town enjoying himself.
Gabriel Utterson, the older and, he thinks, wiser of the three, a staunchly upright rational lawyer – cannot believe anything wrong of Jekyll even when the facts point otherwise.
Katherine, a widowed sister – wears an eye-patch.
Lucy, Katherine’s daughter
Sir Danvers Carew an elderly MP
Poole, the butler, is intelligent and concerned about his master, but fiercely loyal to him. Poole is starchy, conscientious and unyielding, but firmly wedded to the concept of Victorian social hierarchy.
Annie, the maid, has an enquiring mind, is charming and shows her resolution and her vulnerability.
You don’t need to attend both auditions but are welcome to do so. If you are interested in getting involved backstage rather than “treading the boards” then please get in touch, we always need help there too! The show runs from November 6th – November 9th.
